Mark Voxland graduated from Moorhead High School in 1968. While at Moorhead High School, he participated in debate for one year and carolers for two years, and he was in a play and a musical. Voxland graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Since 1970, Voxland has been an electrical contractor with Voxland Electric. He is currently president. In 1988, Voxland was elected to the Moorhead City Council, serving until 2001. He has served as mayor of Moorhead since 2002.

Voxland is a board member for Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corp, a commissioner for the Red River Basin Commission, a city representative and voting member for both the National League of Cities and the League of Minnesota Cities, a board member for the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities, vice president for the Minnesota Mayors Association, chair of the Moorhead Board of Appeal and Equalization, and a board member of the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund. He previously served as president of the League of Minnesota Cities, chair of the Metropolitan Council of Governments, and on the Clay County Planning Commission.

Voxland has been a Moorhead Kiwanis member since 1986, a Chamber of Commerce member since 1972 and a Boy Scouts leader since 1972, and he served as the Circle K Advisor at MSUM from 1987-2000. He belongs to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fargo Moorhead Electric Industry Association, Minnesota Electric Association and Fargo Moorhead Homebuilders Association. Voxland has earned numerous Boy Scout awards, including District Award of Merit and Distinguished Scoutmaster, several Jaycee awards, and he was named to the Kiwanis Hall of Honor in 1998. He was recognized with MSUM’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999.

Mark and his wife, Donna, have been married since 1972. They have three children, Nathan, Joel and Rachel, and four grandchildren, Mason, Benjamin, Jera and Bria. Voxland lives in Moorhead.
