Peter Rogness graduated from Moorhead High School in 1978 where he was a National Merit Scholar. At Moorhead High, Rogness was active in numerous theater productions, including designing and building sets for “Camelot,” “The King and I,” and many others. He attended St. Olaf College, and he earned a bachelor of fine arts in stage design at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and a master of fine arts in film design at New York University.

For the past 22 years Rogness has worked as an art director for film and television, working for most of the major studios and independent film production companies. As art director, Rogness is responsible for executing the creative vision required for a film, including facilitating all aspects of the set creation for each project.
Rogness worked as an assistant art director on six films while learning the craft. His first feature film work was Woody Allen’s “Manhattan Murder Mystery.” Other early notable projects include “Bullets Over Broadway” and “The Cider House Rules.”

Rogness is credited as the art director for 28 feature films, including the upcoming “Gold” and “Joy.” Previous projects include “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close,” “Taking Woodstock,” “Doubt,” “Across the Universe,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Pink Panther,” “Far From Heaven,” “The Producers,” “The Stepford Wives,” “The Shipping News,” “Pollock,” “Cradle Will Rock,” “Marvin’s Room,” “Beautiful Girls,” and the pilot episode of “Sex and the City,” among others.

In 2011, Rogness received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Miniseries or Movie for HBO’s “Mildred Pierce.” He received Art Directors Guild awards for Excellence in Production Design in 2012 for “Mildred Pierce” and in 2003 for “Catch Me If You Can.” Additionally his work has been nominated for Art Directors Guild awards in 2012, 2009 and 2002 and for an Online Film & Television Association award in 2003.

In recent years, Rogness has been a volunteer with ASAP! (After School Arts Program), a nonprofit organization, based in Washington Depot, Ct., whose mission is to provide children exposure to the variety of music, dance, theater and visual arts programs that have been eliminated from local public schools.
